High End AV Preamp Sales Boom Despite Recession – Many Models Sold Out

While the Great Recession rages on, there are signs of recovery and hope in the AV business. One such ray of sunshine is the boom in sales of higher end AV preamps. We don’t mean the $30,000 flagship units which are priced and designed to sell in lower volumes to the Uber-rich. The AV preamps that are selling like hotcakes are the $10,000 and under category. In many cases some of the top contenders in this category are actually selling out, resulting in waiting lists for consumers looking to upgrade to audiophile sound packed from a preamp that knows its way around five or six HDMI…

1936 Hammond AV and PR40...This song has no name, and the playing is quite tame. Just recapped the preamp, so this is more or less testing out the tonal gamut for improvements. This hammond has more tonewheels than the later models (like the B3) and thus the bass goes all the way to the floor. Unfortunately the camera mic has a nasty preamp and ends up putting a lot of hiss in the audio. I might replace this vid soon with a little better recording and maybe actually play a bit more. 1936 Hammond AV into a 1964 PR-40 Tone cabinet with necklace reverb. Very deep and sweet tone.
